Our FL F1 Kart Paddle Shifter System is fully adjustable for different sizes hand and fingers, different diameters and dishes of steering wheels and is the only system available with a clutch lever designed as part of the package. Our system does not mount on the steering shaft so we don’t need three different sizes. The built-in adjustability of the system lets you mix and match where each part needs to be, then bolt it all together.
Paddle Shifter Assembly: The majority of the parts are made of an Engineered Plastic. Some parts are aluminum. The first prototype’s parts were cut on a table jig saw by hand, then all the bolt holes drilled with a hand held drill, which was a long laborious process. As a time saving measure, all production parts will be waterjet cut, then drilled on a drill press.
The system uses a dashboard plate which bolts between the steering wheel and steering hub. The two pivot perches, bolted to the dashboard plate, each use a thrust bearing to ensure the paddles and clutch lever operate smoothly. Brackets on the paddles are provided to attach the mechanical push-pull cable on either paddle. Most commonly, the cable gets attached to the right side with a quick release connector, so that tapping the right paddle gives you an up-shift and tapping the left paddle gives you a down-shift. Brackets and clamps are included to attach the cable housing firmly, allowing the cable to slide through the housing. The transmission end of the cable has a rod end to attach to the transmission j-shift lever on the gearbox.
Parts List: dashboard plate, two pivot perches, two thrust washer bearings, various paddle shifter parts, clutch lever parts, various brackets, clamps, various bolts, washers and nuts, push-pull cable with two rod ends.
